Laminboard, also commonly known as lumberboard, joinery board or blockboard, consists of a central layer of edge-glued battens of between 24 and 30 mm width, covered on both sides with a facing veneer. 5-ply blockboard/5-ply lumber-core has a double-layer of veneer on each face for added strength.
Laminboard is a higher-grade variant of blockboard in which the central core consists of thinner 5-8mm battens or veneer arranged 'on edge'.
Blockboard plywood used to be made by joiners themselves, and is sometimes still known as joinery board.
